Harold P. Harriman, 95, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning, November 4, 2019, in Miller’s Merry Manor in Hope, Indiana. He was born in Long Beach, California on February 5, 1924, the son of the late Dixon and Ethel (Foreman) Harriman.
He married the love of his life, Evelyn Mardock, on August 30, 1945, in Greenleaf, Idaho. Together they shared 72 years before she preceded him in death on April 23, 2018.
Mr. Harriman graduated from Cascade College, which is now Seattle Pacific University, in 1946 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. He and Evelyn served as missionaries through World Gospel Mission for 42 years; 39 years in Bolivia and 3 years in Paraguay.
Harold will be missed by his children: David (Karol) Harriman, Mandan, ND; Hubert (Sarah) Harriman, Upland; Dwight (Susan) Harriman, Livingston, MT; James Harriman, Santa Cruz, Bolivia, South America; and Melody (Daniel) Taube, Columbus; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; a brother: Larry Harriman; and a sister: Donna Schelenburg.
In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by sisters: Ilene Harriman, Daleva Metcalf; a brother: Earl Harriman; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Harriman.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 259 N. Main St., Upland, Indiana, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Saturday, November 16, 2019. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, with Rev. Daniel Taube officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Upland.
