John E. Horine, 75, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Lutheran Hospital, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident. John was born on June 4, 1943, to the late Everett and Mary Horine. He graduated from Swayzee High School in 1961 and then joined the National Guard. He worked for Delco Remy for many years, retiring in 1996. On November 8, 1981, he married the love of his life, Glenda Sides. John was a very kind and giving man. An extremely hard worker, he was always busy. He loved living in the country where he raised chickens, worked on small engines, and farmed his land. John loved to camp. He was hoping the rain would finally let up, so he and Glenda could finally go camping at Hidden Lake. He enjoyed their trips to Blue Ridge Parkway. An excellent cook, he could usually be found at his Traeger smoker, smoking the best bacon you ever tasted. He also loved animals, especially his dogs, Maggie, who survives, and Jake, who recently passed away. John was a family man and adored his grandchildren. He made sure that they all knew how much he loved them, and never left them without telling them so. He will be greatly missed by many.
John is survived by his wife, Glenda, Upland; two sons, Eric (Leslie) Hollingsworth, Walton, and Jason Hollingsworth, Upland; six grandchildren, Jonathon Hollingsworth, Lanie Miller, Owen Lowe, Shelby Hollingsworth, Jurnie Hollingsworth, Aubri Hollingsworth; mother-in-law, Zelpha McCann, Marion; three sisters, Jeanette Coffin, Marion, Phyllis (Joe) Seward, Fowlerton, and Marilyn Thatcher, Cicero; sister-in-law, Beverly Horine, Fairmount; Glenda's siblings, Everett (Virginia) Sides, Anderson, Brenda (Vaughn) Brown, Fort Wayne, and Sharon (Larry) Goins Gas City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Mary; and brother, Allen Horine.
