Laura J. Cannon, 53, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, in her home. Laura was born in Marion, on October 1, 1965, to the late James Guy and Jacqueline (Clark) Edwards. She graduated from Marion High School. A hardworking woman, Laura worked multiple jobs at the same time, including at Picture Perfect Pet Center and Southworth Ford. She later pursued her passion for medicine by attending Purdue University and earning her Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical medication. She then worked as a pharmacist at the VA hospital for many years, until she retired in 2007. Laura enjoyed attending Hanfield UMC, playing pool, fishing, and dirt track racing. She loved all kinds of animals. The light of her life, however, were her children and grandchildren. They meant the world to her, and she will be greatly missed by all of them.

Laura is survived by her significant other, Patrick Shellenbarger; children, Amanda (Larry) Harris, Gas City, Matthew (Emily) Cannon, Jonesboro, and Daniel Cannon, Gas City; step-sons, Tom (Tina) Cannon, Syracuse, and John (Leah) Cannon, Wapekoneta, OH; sister, Sharon (Dan) Meyers, Jonesboro; step-father, Jack (Tom) Edwards, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kori, Conner, Colt, Brandon, Myah, Emily, Cassi, Dylan, Rylee, and Payton; great-grandson, Elijah; and several aunts, uncles, cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Jackie, and her daughter, Carrie Cannon.

Arrangements for Laura have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana 46928, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., as well as an hour before the service. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, October 4, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Curtis Banker and Pastor Joel Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
