Madonna L. Slate, 69, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at IU Hospital. Madonna was born on July 16, 1950, to the late Charles and Alenden "Dorothy" Hood. She grew up in Point Isabel and attended Elwood High School. On June 8, 1968, she married Ronald L. Slate, and he survives. Madonna was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Friends Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and using what she grew in her garden to cook with. Her favorite things to do were spend time with and take care of her family.
Madonna is survived by her husband, Ron; four children, Michael Slate, Fairmount, Eric Slate, Flint, MI, James (Heidi) Slate, Summitville, and Kayla Slate, Fairmount; six grandchildren, R.J. Richards, and Noah, Elizabeth, Hannah, Leah, and Luke Slate; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Aiden Richards; and three brothers, Charles (Judy) Hood, Fairmount, Robin (Jane) Hood, Monticello, and Larry Hood, Mooresville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Hood; brother, Jim Hood; and sister, Janet Yoakum.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, where a visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2019, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Clay Davis officiating. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
