Nora E. (Sloderbeck) Tanser, 88, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, in Marion, Indiana. She was born to the late Gail A. and Mary I. (Shide) Sloderbeck, on July 18, 1931, in Marion. She attended Marion High School. Before retiring, Nora worked in dietary at the Sandwich Hospital in Sandwich, IL for 13 years and at the Emily Flinn Home in Marion from 1988-2003. She was a member of the American Legion in Fairmount, the VFW in Huntington, the Amvets in Marion and the Moose in Gas City. She was a volunteer at Help the Hopeful and Help Kids, and was a member of the Hope Neighborhood Association. Nora enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, watching TV and attending the "Concerts in the Park" in Gas City. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews, her great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as spending time with her family at Long Lake.
Nora is survived by her sisters, Gail (Jack) Sheets, Jonesboro; and Anna Sheets, Norco, CA; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gail A. and Mary I. (Shide) Sloderbeck; her brothers, Bill, John, Marion, and Russell Sloderbeck; her sisters, Isabell McComes, Alberta Sloderbeck, Dessie Day, and Jessie Sloderbeck; her brother-in-law, Phil Sheets; her sisters-in-law, Annabell, Dessie, Margaret and Betty Sloderbeck.
Per Nora's wishes, her body has been donated to science. The family will have a private memorial for Nora at a later date. Arrangements for Nora have been entrusted to College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.
