Jack C. Ball, 76, of Marion died Friday, May 31, 2019, at Marion General Hospital. Born March 31, 1943, at Marion, Indiana to the late Chester and Orveta Sally (Norris) Ball. After graduating from Van Buren high school in 1961, Jack began employment at RCA until being drafted into the Army. Upon his return, he went to work at General Motors driving a forklift for 34 years. Jack always had a sign on the back of his forklift that said, No coffee, No workee. Jack also owned and operated an excavation business and plowed gardens. He married Gail Charlton in Niles, Ohio on July 31, 1965. They were married for 53 years, and together they built and truly enjoyed their close-knit family they had made. Jack was well-known for his love of Fords. From tractors, to cruising the old Custer's Drive-In, his 1964 Thunderbolt, to rebuilding classic cars, motors, and carburetors and especially T-Birds. He was recently filmed and interviewed by a member of the Ford Motor Company. He was pictured in their magazine building an engine. He had a passion for steam engines, once traveling to Kansas City just to admire one that was temporarily parked. Jack was able to fulfill a lifelong dream last year by actually driving a train to Hobart, Indiana. He enjoyed family vacations all throughout the country and playing euchre. He will especially be remembered by him handing out his trademark fireballs to everyone. Jack could always be found at Richards Restaurant, having coffee with his cronies, telling stories you may or may not believe. Jack was quite a unique man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors including his wife are his children, Debbie (Bruce Culp) Peck, Cicero, Traci (Darren) Riddle, Marion, Carrie (Wayne) Pavey, Marion, Chris (Dana) Ball, Indianapolis, Tim (Nika) Ball, Zionsville, Special Nephew; Corey (Amy) Charlton, Gas City. 17 Grandchildren, Ein (Stephanie) Peck, Dylan Peck, Chad (Brittany) Jacks, Whitney Jacks, Morgan Riddle, Wesley Riddle, Brittany Harpham, Lindsey (Zach) Zehner, Jonathan Pavey, Ashley (Daniel) Mattucci, Wyatt Pavey, Samantha Ball, Josh Ball, Gabriella Ball, Jacob Ball, Nicholas Ball, and Michael Ball, and 11 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, David Allen Ball, sisters, Bonnie Zigler and Patrica A. Ball, brothers, Michael Ball, and Ronald Ball Sr. Funeral services for Jack will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 12:00 P.M. at College Park Chapel, Armes-Hunt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave. Marion, Indiana 46953 with Tim Berg officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 4-8 PM, and also on Saturday from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Memorial contributions are to be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
