Joseph Michael Blue

Joseph Michael Blue, 69, of Marion, Indiana, died at 4:50 p.m., on Sunday, March 12, 2023, in his Marion home. He entered this world on May 20, 1953, in Marion, born to Melvin and Madeline (Florea) Blue. Joseph married Robbie Hood on March 1, 1991, in Sparta, Tennessee, she survives.


He was a 1971 graduate of Eastbrook High School. Joseph worked as a millwright for General Motors in Marion for 37 years until his retirement on December 31, 2022. He was known to his co-workers as "Rowdy" due to his ornery personality and humorous pranks. Joseph was known for being a hard worker, as he was also a farmer when he wasn't working at General Motors. He attended Twin City Bible Baptist Church in Gas City. Family was always most important to him, and he especially loved his grandchildren.


In addition to his loving wife of 32 years, Robbie Blue, Joseph is survived by his four children, Michael (Sara) Blue, of Volo, Illinois, Christina (Ben) Caudell, of Marion, Elizabeth (Schuyler) Merritt, of Springfield, Virginia, and Jared Blue, of Marion; five grandchildren, Riley Blue, Mason Blue, Logan Caudell, Oaklei Caudell, and Connell Merritt; mother, Madeline Blue, of Marion; and two brothers, John (Sonia) Blue, and Jim Blue, both of Marion. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Blue.


Arrangements are entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, IN 46953.


The family will have a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
