Arvie Cooley

Arvie Lee Cooley, 90, of Fairmount, Indiana died on July 22, 2025 at Colonial Oaks Health Care in Marion.

Arvie was born on September 6, 1934 in Flat Rock, Arkansas, son of the late William "Willie" and Nellie (Thompson) Cooley. Arvie had several jobs over the years including truck driving for Crystal Laundry, Foster Forbes and worked in maintenance at Parkview Nursing Home. He was also a certified welder. Arvie had been a member of the Fairmount Lions club since 1982. He was very active participating in many events and always willing to help out. He and Judy were active members in the Smile Seekers Clown Ministry where he was known as Mr. Willie. He loved to tinker, work on TV's, was a parts collector, and known as Mr. FIx it. He loved Coca-Cola, fishing, and rides in his golf cart.

The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Colonial Oak for their care of Arvie.

Arvie is survived by two children, Darlene Wyatt, Gas City, and Dewayne Cooley, Fairmount; grandchildren, Noel (Catina) Ratliff, Marion, Nicholas (Megan) Ratliff, and Season (Jake) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kyle Ratliff, Courtney Ratliff Jonathan Ratliff, Marcus Ratliff, Andrew Ratliff, and Aaron Johnson; special friend Wilma Jean Soultz.

Arvie was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children Mary Rayphotz, wives Murial Cooley and Judy L (Butts) Cooley; brothers, Noah "Utah" Cooley, RW "Dub" Cooley, Franklin D. "Bill" Hunnicut.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where service will be on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Visitation will be from 11 AM - 1 PM with the funeral service starting at 1 PM with Pastor Dave Rogers officiating. There will be a Lion's Club walk through at 1 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Arvie's memory may be made to the Fairmount Lions Club.
