Becky J. Wood, 87, of Fairmount, Indiana, peacefully passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Suite Living. Born on August 11, 1938, in Gas City, Indiana, to the late Edward Jones and Edna Byers, Becky lived a life dedicated to service, compassion, and the joy of family.
She graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1956 before attending Taylor University, where she nurtured her passion for education. For a decade, Becky made a significant impact in the lives of countless students as a special education aide at Madison-Grant Community Schools. Her kindness and dedication were evident in her unwavering commitment to her students and their families.
A devoted member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Gas City, Becky also contributed her time to the Taunu Federated Women's Club, where she connected with others who shared her values of service and community engagement. Her love for painting was matched only by her love for her family, with whom she cherished many beautiful moments.
Becky is survived by her son, Walter (Shelli) Wood, II; daughter, Wendi (James Gooley) Gallogly; sisters, Bunny Maynard and Beverly Markem; brother, Edward "Butch" (Judy) Jones; brother-in-law, Russell Dilley; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edna; sisters, Betty Jo (Raymond) Peters, Brenda Jones, Barbara Dilley, and Beatrice "Beattie" (William) Simpkins; and brother-in-law, Dick Maynard.
Services celebrating Becky's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, located in Gas City. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
