Beverly J. Horine

Beverly Janice (Street) Horine, 87, of Rigdon, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, September, 12, 2026, following a brief illness.

Beverly was born on the 28th of May, 1939, in Rigdon, Indiana, to Elmer and Blanch (Odle) Street, both of whom preceded her in death. She attended Fairmount High School in Grant County, Indiana.

Beverly married Franklin "Allen" Horine, and together they shared 61 years of marriage before his passing on the 30th day of July, 2016. Their life together was centered on faith, family, perseverance, and the many simple joys they found in their love for one another and in raising their family.

Following their marriage, Allen joined the United States Army and served overseas during the Korean War. While Allen was away, Beverly remained in Indiana, where she gave birth to their first child, James. Following Allen's return to the United States, Beverly and young James joined him in Fort Knox, Kentucky, where their daughter Lesa was born. After Allen completed his military service, the family returned to Indiana, where two more children, Randall and Beth, were born.

Beverly and Allen shared many happy memories while raising their family. Through the joys and challenges that life brought their way, Beverly remained a steady presence-quietly, strong, deeply faithful, and unwavering in her devotion to her family. Her faith in God and her strongly held values of faith, family, and perseverance guided her throughout her life. She faced life's circumstances with a strength that was never boastful or demanding, but instead revealed itself through her steadfastness, compassion, and enduring love for those around her.

Quiet and unassuming by nature, Beverly never sought or needed special attention. Her greatest fulfillment came from providing a nurturing, stable, and faith-centered home while quietly supporting the people she loved. She possessed a strength that did not demand recognition; rather, it was reflected in the way she lived her life, cared for her family, and remained faithful through both joy and sorrow.

In her younger years, Beverly enjoyed spending the summer at Lake Webster with her parents and brother and later, helping her mother-in-law, Mary Horine, on the family farm. She had a great love for animals and found particular joy in caring for them. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, and was an avid reader.

In their later years of marriage, Allen worked as an over-the-road truck driver and later transported recreational vehicles across the country. His work gave Beverly the opportunity to accompany him on many of his travels. Together, they saw much of the United States, creating fond memories along the way, often accompanied by their beloved Boston Terrier.

During their retirement years, Beverly and Allen enjoyed camping and fishing together and treasured time spent with their grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. Family remained at the heart of Beverly's life, and she found some of her greatest happiness in watching the generations that followed her grow.

Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin "Allen" Horine; her children, Lesa Ann Lawson and Randall Lee Horine; her parents, Elmer and Blanch (Odle) Street; her brother, James Clair Street; her sister, Doris Mae Street; her daughter-in-law, Melody Ann Horine; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Everett and Mary Horine.

Beverly is survived by her children, James Allen (Melody) Horine, Marion; daughter, Beth Angela (Scott) Smay, Fairmount; four grandchildren, Katie Horine, Rebecca (Richard) Sandy, Emily Leavitt, and Jennifer (Dr. Jonathan) Goodwin; great-grandsons, Drexel Goodwin and Vander Goodwin; great-granddaughters, Emilee Sandy, Kylie Lamberson (Nahum), and Kelsey Swigeart; and Rochelle Bogus, her caregiver and dear friend, who became like family to Beverly.

Beverly leaves behind a lasting example of what it means to be a faithful servant, a devoted wife and mother, and a source of quiet strength in the face of life's circumstances. She did not seek worldly recognition, for the treasures she cherished most were not of this earth. Her faith, her love for her family, and the values by which she lived will continue through the lives of those she leaves behind.

Beverly's spirit will live on through her loved ones and through the enduring example of her life. She will be remembered with profound love, deep gratitude, and great honor.

Services for Beverly have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Knox Chapel Cemetery in Fairmount.
