Carolyn Dillie

Carolyn Ruth Dillie, 89, of Fort Wayne, IN, formerly of Upland, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at home while surrounded by her family.

Carolyn was born on October 4, 1936, to the late M. Ross and Mary (Bedwell) Troyer. On August 10, 1958, she married her beloved husband of 67 years, Max Dean Dillie, who survives. Carolyn was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School and Ball State University.

Carolyn was a devoted homemaker after having worked as a secretary at Franklin Finance Company in Hartford City where she worked when she met Max on a blind date. The couple moved to Fort Wayne in 1961. Carolyn was an active member of St. Joe United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne. Before moving to Fort Wayne, she was a member of Upland United Methodist Church. While living in Upland, she grew up in the home just south of Jones Funeral Home, which is now Gary's Barber Shop. Carolyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Upland Chapter #411. She and Max enjoyed many years of travel together. She was an accomplished "play-by-ear" pianist, the family loved hearing her play on visits and especially during the holidays.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Keri) Dillie and Karen (Dillie) Church; grandchildren, Katie (Cole) Schmeling, Kyle (Emily) Dillie, Ross Church, and Marynna Church; and one great-grandchild, Sophie Schmeling.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Melville R. Troyer, John R. Troyer, William J. Troyer, and Elizabeth M. Massey.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones-Smith Chapel, Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 N. Main St., Upland, IN 46989.

Funeral services for Carolyn will be Monday December 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Jones-Smith Chapel, Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services where the family will receive family and friends from 11:00 - 1:00, interment will at Jefferson Cemetery, Upland, IN

Memorials are to the American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Foundation.
