Carolyn Sue Hileman, 83, passed away on March 8, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1942, to the late Fredrick Wampner and Gertrude (Biehl) Wampner-Scott.
Carolyn was a graduate of Marion High School, Class of 1960. On September 22, 1962, she married the love of her life, Edward Hileman, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love and family.
Throughout her life, Carolyn worked at Myers Drive-In, Lincoln Elementary, and Hills Department Store. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren and found great joy in her faith and church community. Carolyn loved her family with all her heart and cherished every moment spent with them. She especially enjoyed sitting in the sunshine, singing at church, completing crossword puzzles, relaxing on the porch swing, and spoiling her grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband, Edward Hileman; daughter, Wendy (Mark) Ailes; son, Edward (Stacy) Hileman; grandchildren, Joshua (Jay) Hileman, Makayla (Jaycee) Hileman, Terri Hileman (mother of Makayla), Ashlynn (Sam) Ailes, Cainan Ailes, Sammie Baker (honorary grandchild) Kaitlynn Hileman, and Jaxson Harpham; great-grandchildren, Aniyah Hileman and Joh'lee Hileman; and sister, Joyce Wampner Stevens and Many neices and nephews, that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Richard Scott; and her brothers, William "Bill," James "Jim," and Ronald "Ron" Wampner.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Stillwater Hospice; Scott, Marsha, Matthew from ambulance 12; Clayton and the staff at Marion Health; her granddaughters, Ash, Makayla and Jaycee ,Bri, Tonya, Chris and Kathy, for the love, care, and support they provided.
Arrangements for Carolyn have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with a one hour visitation prior to service, at the Church of the Brethren, 2302 S Geneva Ave, Marion, IN 46953. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to DCS Feline Fighters, 4651 S. 700 E., Marion, IN 46953, or Riley Children's Hospital, 705 Riley Hospital Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
