Charlene Ussery

Charlene Sue Ussery passed away on May 5, 2025, with her daughters by her side. She was born July 21, 1939 to the late Jessie Amelia Reed Warner and Delbert Ray Warner in Whitley County. She married Lionel Ussery of North Manchester, Indiana on August 12, 1962. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. She retired from the offices of American National Can and Ball Foster Glass Companies in Marion, Indiana. Charlene was a past member of the South Whitley Church of the Brethren having served as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher as well as a song leader. Upon her marriage, she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in North Manchester. She later joined St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, then Grace Lutheran Church in Gas City. In recent years, she had been attending Grace Community Church in Marion, Indiana.

Charlene had a love for travel, especially when her husband, a licensed private and commercial pilot with an instrument rating, was at the controls. They took great pride in flying their family on many trips and vacations. One of her most memorable commercial journeys was flying on the Concorde to Europe. In quieter moments, Charlene enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles. She was an avid sports fan and later occasionally she enjoyed a Hallmark movie or two.

Surviving are two daughters, Melissa Buesching and Amanda (Frank) Whittle and two Grandsons, Seth and Elijah Whittle; special family friend, Robert "Bob" Bennett. Also surviving is one sister, Rosalie Hossler, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews

She is preceded in passing by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN 46953. According to Charlene's wishes, there will be no calling or service.

Condolences may be made online. Private service will be held at a later date at the VA Cemetery in Marion, Indiana following the cremation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home to go to Wreaths Across America in memory of Charlene.
