Charles Dingus

Heaven gained an angel on August 12, 2025, Charles P. Dingus, 76, passed away after a hard, long, and painful battle to cancer, he was surrounded by his family. Charles was born in Norton, VA, to the late Charles and Arkie (Clark) Dingus, on June 6, 1949. He was a very hard and loyal worker, he worked at Active Products from 1964-1999, Thompson from 1999-2007, and at Indiana Wesleyan University from 2007 until he retired in June of 2025.

Charles met the love of his life, Joann (Hodge) Dingus, in 1970 at a red light. They locked eyes, she pulled over, and he followed. They had been together ever since. They married on May 30, 1975, and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

He was known for his gentle demeanor and the unwavering support he provided to his loved ones. As a devoted husband to Joann Dingus, he led and nurtured his family with kindness and understanding. He will be remembered for his loving spirit and nurturing heart. He devoted his life to ensuring the happiness and well-being of his family, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.

Charles had a passion for yard work, camping, and traveling. The Dingus family fondly recalls their unforgettable vacations to Florida and Kings Island, where laughter and adventure thrived. Charles was an avid NASCAR and football enthusiast, proudly supporting the 49ers and Dolphins. His love for old cars reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and history, and he took great joy in being part of a community that celebrated these timeless machines.

He is survived by his wife, Joann Dingus, Marion; children, Jeff (Tarina Smith) Dingus, Marion; and Chrissy Dingus, Marion; grandchildren, Blake, Alexis, Sarah, and Aiden Dingus; siblings, Ruby Coffee; Billy (Gayle) Dingus; Willie Dingus; Barbara (Glen) Craiger; and Juanita (Pete) Thacker; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Ruth Hall; and Louise Lunsford; nephew, Mike Dingus; and loving dog Molly.

Arrangements for Charles were entrusted to the Mississinewa Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 200 N. 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933. Where on Saturday, August 16, 2025, the family will have a visitation for family and friends from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M., with the funeral beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Lucas Binkerd officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Estates of Serenity, Marion.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Charles to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
