Listen to Obituary

Dixie L. Holloway, 87, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Jonesboro, IN, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 2, 1938, in Grant County to Mabel (Colbertson) Stevens and Morris Stevens, she spent her childhood in the surrounding area, graduating from Marion High School in 1956. Dixie married Joe Hurlock, with whom she welcomed two children, sharing many family memories before their separation. Later, Dixie created a blended family full of love with Jerry "Mac" until their divorce. Dixie then married Rocky Lawson, until his untimely passing. On January 30, 1999, she married Gerald E. Holloway, sharing seven years together and traveling around the United States before his passing on March 27, 2006. Years later a kismet meeting brought her companion William (Bill) Biddle into her life, and they shared over ten years of memories until Dixie's passing.

Dixie thrived in her profession as a bank teller for 27 years before retiring in 2000, and enjoyed many hobbies including playing computer games, crocheting, and baking. Her famous mayonnaise cake, pumpkin pie, and lemon meringue pie will be remembered fondly as cherished family favorites. She had a large family with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her kind nature, clever sense of humor, and deep love will be greatly missed.

Dixie is survived by daughter Ann (Gary) Hodupp; son, Jim Hurlock; grandchildren, Amanda (Terris) Ayres, Brad (Jamie) Hodupp, Tina Hodupp, Madi Hodupp, Amy (Ty) Silverthorn, Jayme Hurlock, and Jody (Mike) Culley; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and companion, William (Bill) Biddle. Siblings Richard (Bekki) Stevens, and Barbra (Jeff) Mitchell. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mable (Colbertson) Stevens; father, Morris Stevens; infant brother, David Stevens; and companions, Joe Hurlock, Rocky Lawson, and Gerald Holloway.
