Doris Ellen (Deeter) Hodupp, aged 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 10:15 PM at Twin City Healthcare in Gas City, Indiana. A longtime resident of Fairmount, Indiana, Doris lived a vibrant, full life dedicated to her family, community, and service.
Doris was born on September 16, 1927, in Marion, Indiana, to Ralph M. Deeter and Eva G. (Dilts) Deeter. She grew up in the area and graduated from Fairmount High School with the Class of 1945. In 1948, she married James Floyd Hodupp, he preceded in death.
Doris was known for her incredible work ethic and versatility. Over her working years, she was a dedicated Bookkeeper for Paranite and Everett Hiatt Chrysler Auto Sales, and worked for Chrysler. Demonstrating her determination and capability, she also spent 18 years operating heavy machinery as a Mule Driver and Forklift Driver for General Tire.
Beyond her professional career, Doris committed her heart and time to her community. She was a deeply devoted 4-H Leader for 35 years, guiding generations of youth through the "Nanny Lane & Kids" 4-H Club. Faith and fellowship were central to her life; she was a member of the Friends Church and a fiercely dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) for 38 years. She served with distinction as Past President of District 13 OES and Past Matron of OES Chapter 277 Fairmount, as well as participating in the Paige Eastern Star & Grand Chapter. Additionally, she was an active member of the Fowlerton Home Ec Club.
Doris was a natural caregiver who truly "knew everyone and did not know a stranger." Ready to lend a hand at a moment's notice, her monumental impact on her community was recognized when she was named an Honorary Mayor of Prairie Trace Apartments.
