Dorothy S. Southerland, 61, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 after a long fight with cancer. She was born to the late Buell and Leta (Leak) Wilkerson on April 15, 1962. Dorothy graduated from Mississinewa High School class of 1982.
She married her husband Bryan Southerland on September 10, 2021.
Dorothy loved her family, she was always the most loyal, kind, and caring person. She made other people around her feel special. Dorothy had a smile that could light up a room instantly. In her free time she enjoyed crafting, camping, and decorating for the holiday's. Dorothy had a love for the water, it didn't matter if it was the ocean or a lake, she enjoyed it.
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her husband, Bryan Southerland of Marion; children, William Shaw of Gas City, Kyle (Racheal Dooley) Shaw of Gas City, Davie Southerland of Marion, Nicolas Southerland of Gas City, Stephanie Southerland of Rochester, NY; siblings, Orval (Caly) Wilkerson of Dunkirk, Margaret Scott of Marion, Donna Bellus of Gas City, Andy Wilkerson of Gas City; sister-in-law's Belinda Wilkerson of Gas City, Yalanda Wilkerson of Marion; brother-in-law, Michael Kegg of Point Isabel; grandchildren, Violet Southerland, Levi Southerland, Kamryn Southerland, Noah Southerland, Jaxon Southerland, Jesenia Arias, Islah Arias, Keagan Dooley, Brielle Royal; great grandchild, Keaton Dooley; lifelong friends, Margaret Butts and Susan Willis.
Dorothy is preceded in her passing by her parents, Buell and Lota (Leak) Wilkerson; siblings, Russell Wilkerson, Rose Kegg, Gary Wilkerson; brother-in-law, John Bellus.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A visitation will be held on Saturday October 21, 2023 from 1-3p.m. at the College Park Chapel 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN 46953. A service will immediately follow at 3 p.m., with Pastor Matthew Trexler officiating. A cremation will follow.
Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy can be made out to Cancer Services of Grant County, 305 S. Norton Street, Marion, IN 46952.
