Dwight Charles Pollen, 85, passed away on August 29, 2026, at Wesleyan Health Care, in Marion, IN. He was born to Dorothy (Pollen) Polm on November 5, 1940, in Marion, IN. He married the love of his life, Shirley (King) Pollen on November 14, 1959, with their love story spanning decades before her passing in 2018. He was an employee of RCA/Thompson for 41 years before retiring.
Dwight loved timeless westerns and had a wealth of knowledge of them and loved sharing it with others. He loved country music from the 1960's and about every sport you can imagine except hockey. Baseball was his favorite of all, and he spent time coaching his sons' little league teams over the years and enjoyed watching his favorite team, the Cincinnati Reds. He found joy tending to his garden and yard. In his garden, he grew grapes, cherries, peaches and strawberries and enjoyed eating them in the form of jellies and pies made by his loving wife, Shirley. His shih tzu, Adeline, was his constant loving companion until her passing.
Dwight is survived by his sons, Michael (Kelly) Pollen and Kenneth (Karen) Pollen; daughter, Deborah Pollen; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Pollen; grandchildren, Jeremy (Angel) Pollen, Stacy (Andrew Moroney) Pollen, Cory (Emily) Pollen, Brittany (Michael) Berry, Amanda (Kyle Hamilton) Burkholder, Megan Pollen, Chelsea (Jeff) Wallace, Griffin (Alannah) Pollen; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn Rosenbush, Jaxson Rosenbush, Bentley Burkholder, Braxton Burkholder, Annabelle Wallace, Stella Wallace, Emileigh Pollen, Eliannah Pollen, Christin Pollen, Asher Pollen, Jovi Pollen, and Olivia Pollen and brother-in-law Phillip "Spark" Mitchener.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Pollen; his son, Greg Pollen; mother, Dorothy Polm; stepfather, Francis Polm; sister, Jeanie Hollars; brother-in-law, Bill Hollars. Brothers and sisters-in-laws, David & Grace Ford, Stan & Betty Cassidy, Martha Mitchener and Mary King.
Services for Dwight are entrusted to Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Fairmount Chapel. Services will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Park Cemetary in Fairmount, IN.
