Edward Hileman, 85, passed away at his home on April 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 8, 1940, to the late Leonard Hileman and Alica (Ridenour) Hiatt.
Edward proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he also earned his GED. On September 22, 1962, he married the love of his life, Carolyn (Wampner) Hileman, and together they shared many wonderful years filled with love and memories.
Edward was a man of many talents and interests. He served as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially working in his barn and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens. He had a creative side and loved making jewelry. Edward was active in a horseshoe league, coached baseball at the PAL Club, and shared his musical talents by playing guitar and bass in a band. He also had a passion for cars, especially his Corvette, and was a proud member of a Corvette club.
He is survived by his daughter, Wendy (Mark) Ailes; his son, Edward (Stacy) Hileman; his grandchildren, Joshua (Jay) Hileman, Makayla (Jaycee) Hileman, Ashlynn (Sam S.) Ailes, Cainan Ailes, Sammie Baker (honorary grandchild), Kaitlynn Hileman, and Jaxson Harpham; great-grandchildren, Aniyah Hileman and Joh'lee Hileman; and his former daughter-in-law, Terri Hileman, mother of Makayla. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald (Alda) Hileman; sister-in-law, Joyce Wampner; several nieces and nephews and by many friends.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Hileman; parents; his stepfather, Max Hiatt; his aunt and uncle, Milly and Jack Jacoby; his siblings, Tena Brown, Leonard Hileman, Donald Hileman.
The family would like to give a special thanks, to Heartland Hospice for all their care and support. Also, his grandchildren, Ash, Josh, Cainan, Makayla, Jaycee.; They would also like to thank their special friends, Bri, Tonya, Chris, Kathy and Sam S. for the love and care they all provided.
Arrangements for Edward have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. A graveside service will be held at Grant Memorial Cemetery on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. There will be a Celebration of Life on June 20, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. held at the Izaak Walton League, 10439 S. Old St. Rd. Lafontaine. The family ask you to come celebrate and share your favorite memories of Edward.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Responders Foundation, 10605 Burt Cir, Omaha, NE 68114.
