Gene C. Carson, a charismatic and beloved soul who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at the age of 84. Born on August 22, 1939, to the late Leon and Nell Carson, Gene's adventurous spirit and infectious humor endeared him to many.
In December of 1974, Gene tied the knot with his love, Sharon Gaither, who lovingly stood by his side until his passing. A revered car salesman, Gene dedicated many years to the automotive industry, showcasing everything from Fords to Volkswagens and Buicks to Chevys. Later in life, he found fulfillment working in the Physical Therapy department of Marion General Hospital, positively impacting the lives of those he encountered.
A proud Army veteran, Gene served his country with honor, embodying the values of loyalty and dedication throughout his service. Beyond his professional life, Gene found solace in camping, tackling yard work, and engaging in brain-stimulating crossword puzzles. His zest for life was evident in his love for attending car shows, where he could indulge his passion for automobiles.
A true people person, Gene thrived in the company of others, always ready with a witty remark or a teasing joke to brighten someone's day. With his contagious laughter and heartwarming demeanor, Gene Carson brought light into the lives of many.
Gene is survived by his wife, Sharon; brother, Bill (Angie) Carson, Yorktown; sister, Linda Little, Yorktown; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved dogs, Raven and Rocky, and rabbit, Lily Belle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Nell; son, Jack Carson; daughter, Linda Gibson; brother, Bobby Carson; and sister, Rita Carson.
Arrangements for Gene have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Neal officiating. Burial will take place at Matthews Cemetery.
