George "Butch" Porter

George "Butch" Porter, 81 of Wingate, North Carolina, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children.

George was the son of the late Ralph Henry and Alice Rebecca Porter of Upland, where he grew up.

He graduated from Jefferson High School and worked in the glass container industry for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosemarie Porter; children, Lisa (Ed) Blinn of Marion, Stephen Porter of Marion, Neal (Samantha) Porter of Anderson, and Keith (Amy) Porter of Marshville, NC; grandchildren, Emily (Sam) Ramsey, Marion, Evan (Vanessa) Blinn, Jackson, KY, George William, Reese, and Henry Porter, Marshville, NC, Tessa Turner and Lincoln Porter, Marion, and Vincent Porter, Anderson; and great-grandchildren, George, Jackson, and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Laura Bartlett, cousin, Marilyn Porter, and his sweet granddaughter, Katelyn Blinn.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at noon with Rev. John Porter officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery in Upland.
