It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James "Mike" M. Jordan, who left us on April 17, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on September 24, 1952, in Marmaduke, Arkansas, to the late Vaughn and Nola (Vanderbilt) Jordan. Mike was a beloved father and a true original. He graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1968. Mike became the longest-serving employee for the City of Gas City Street Department, dedicating 51 years of service. He married the love of his life, Kathy (Bright) Jordan, in 1986.
Mike was a man of many passions. He found joy playing golf at Blue Water Golf Course in Montpelier with his best friend Bob Browder. He took pleasure in morning walks to kickstart his day. A loyal fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd, you could often find him strumming a guitar or sharing a laugh with friends at the local VFW or American Legion Post 10 in Marion. He was known for his good sense of humor, his knack for making people laugh, and his caring nature that touched everyone around him. Mike had a collection of guitars, guns, and army knives, each with its own tale to tell.
Mike leaves behind Kathy Jordan, Gas City; sons, Kyle (Kellie Cunningham) Jordan, Gas City; and Paul Michael (Jenny) Jordan, Kokomo; and grandchildren, Mason and Haley Jordan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Nola Jordan; and his favorite dog, his beagle Casey.
Friends and family are invited to come share their memories and celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and lasting friendships.
Arrangements for Mike were entrusted to the Mississinewa Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 200 North 7th Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933, where on Thursday, April 23, 2026, there will be a visitation held from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M., with the funeral beginning at 4:00 P.M. We will gather to honor the man we all cherished - the funny, rotten, and incredibly caring person we knew as Mike.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mike to the Gas City Parks Department, 211 East Main Street, Gas City, Indiana 46933.
