James Michael "Mike" Willis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the age of 80. He was born on September 16, 1945, in Marion, to the late Ballard Willis and Inez (Holder) Morgan. Mike lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

Mike graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1964 and shortly thereafter began a new chapter when he married the love of his life, Joyce (Stephens) Willis, on September 11, 1965. Their journey of over 60 years was marked by unwavering love and commitment. Together, they built a family and a life rich in memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.

A proud veteran, Mike served in the U.S. Army for two years, including a tour of duty in Korea. After returning home, he worked at Owens-Illinois in Gas City and for the City of Gas City before joining Chrysler in 1983 as a millwright. He dedicated 23 years to Chrysler before retiring in 2006.

Mike attended Eastview Wesleyan Church in Gas City. His positive spirit and love for community shone through his many passions. He was an avid golfer and a devoted fan of Notre Dame football. He was also a beloved figure at Mississinewa High School, where he worked in the cafeteria during his retirement, and a familiar presence at the B&B Restaurant, where he delighted other patrons by singing "Happy Birthday" to celebrate their special moments. He especially loved making people laugh, and he and his brother George often entertained their family by singing songs together.

Mike's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son, Mark (Monique) Willis of Marion; his daughter, Jama (Matt) Sandoval of Goodyear, Arizona; his grandchildren, Tommy, Ashley, Erin, Meadow, and Eric; his sisters, Janice Berry and Judy (John) Ruley, both of Gas City; his sisters-in-law, Janice Willis and Donna (Bob) Groat; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ballard Willis and Inez Morgan; his son, Brian Willis; his brothers, John and George Willis; his sisters, Christy McNutt and Swanna May Willis; his brothers-in-law, Ronnie Berry and Mike McNutt; and his in-laws, Clyde and Irene Stephens.
