Janet R. Kiser (Hood), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2024. Born on January 12, 1938, to Herman D. Hood and Edna L. Hood (Tyner), Janet led a life filled with love and dedication to her family and community.
Janet graduated from Somerset High School with the Class of 1956 and furthered her education at the International Business College. It was there she met the love of her life, Lewis Kiser, and they were married on June 14, 1958. Together, they raised three wonderful boys.
Janet had a fulfilling career in banking, working for over 25 years at what was initially 1st National Bank, then Bank One, and eventually became Salin Bank. Her commitment and work ethic were evident throughout her tenure.
Janet's passions included antiquing, cooking, and baking, especially her cherished cookies and rice crispy treats. She was also deeply invested in genealogy, meticulously documenting her family's history. As a great homemaker, mother, and grandmother she created a nurturing and loving home environment where family was her everything. Janet's close relationships extended beyond her immediate family, maintaining lifelong friendships with her high school classmates.
A devoted member of the First Christian Church in Marion, Indiana, Janet's faith and community were important parts of her life. Her legacy of love, dedication, and joy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Janet is survived by her husband, Lewis; three sons, Michael Kiser of Florida, Mark Kiser of Marion, Indiana, and Matthew (Jamie) Kiser of Overland Park, Kansas; grand daughter Elizabeth Kiser of South Carolina; brother, Raymond (Martha) Hood of Wabash, Indiana.
She is preceded in her passing by her parents Herman and Edna (Tyner) Hood.
Arrangement have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Avenue, Marion, IN 46983. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4-7 p.m.. A service will be held on Friday, August 16 at 10 a.m.. Immediately following a burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park in Marion, Indiana.
