Janice Hughes

Janice M. Hughes, age 76, of Upland, Indiana, peacefully passed away on June 30, 2025, at the University Nursing Center. Born on April 29, 1949, to Earl and Fayma Williams, Janice brought warmth and love to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Throughout her life, Janice embodied the values of dedication and integrity. She devoted herself to her family as a daughter and then as a homemaker, creating a nurturing environment filled with kindness and affection. Janice married Michael Hughes on March 1, 1993, and together they shared many cherished moments until his passing on August 12, 2018.

A quiet and introspective spirit, Janice preferred the companionship of her beloved dogs and the company of family. Sundays were often spent at her sister Nancy's home, where laughter and competition filled the air during spirited domino matches. Her sharp wit endeared her to many, making her an unforgettable presence even amid her reserved demeanor.

Janice is survived by her loving brother, David (Ethel) Williams, Upland, and many loving nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Hughes; parents, Earl and Fayma Williams; and siblings, Leroy Williams, Jackie Williams, Alice Fosnaugh, Mary Walz, Paul Williams, Beverly Picco, and Nancy Rogers.

Funeral services for Janice will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services Jones-Smith Chapel, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana. A burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of Janice from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m.
