She married Gary J King on December 21, 1961, becoming each other's lifelong companions and friends. They were blessed with four children; Gary Alan, Karen, Kimberly, and Jennifer. Janice worked at Summitville Convalescent Center as the housekeeping supervisor for over 30 years before retiring in 2016.
Janice loved to do crossword puzzles, word searches and loved to watch a good series on tv, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Gary Alan King (Jannel Eakwright), Karen Morrison, Kimberly Ratliff, and Jennifer (Patric) Washington; grandchildren, Tara Morrison (Brandon Simpson), Justin (Presley) Ratliff, Ashley King (Jordan), Jordan (Andrew) Black, Haleigh Washington, Tritney Eup, Patric Collins, Teshia (J.T.) Janice will be remembered especially for her beautiful soul and caring heart. She never met a person she wouldn't have lent a helpful hand to if it was within her ability.
Per her wishes there will be no service. Her family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Fairmount Lions Club.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to Janice's bonus grandson Gregory Johnson and to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion, care and support during this difficult time.
