John A. Dearth, 75, of Upland, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born May 17, 1950, in Huntington County to the late Maurice G. and Leatha Leona (McMillen) Dearth, John graduated from Huntington North High School in 1968 and attended North Manchester College. He retired from General Motors Marion as a Tool and Die Maker.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John married Glenda Moulton Wright on November 7, 1970, at Back Creek Friends Church in Fairmount. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, watching old Westerns and '80s sitcoms, and following Eastbrook High School football. John also enjoyed traveling, talking with friends, and caring for his beloved dogs, Sasha and Sugar.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda; daughters Michelle (Darren) Lyssy, Amy (Greg) O'Banion, and Rebecca Dearth; grandchildren Krista (Mark) Parmerlee, Brenda Sutton, Miranda (Fabian) Garcia, John (Abby) Sutton, Dylan (Logan) Dearth, Haley, Gregory, and Kaysie O'Banion, and Neva Sutton; and great-grandchildren Donna Garcia, Delilah Dearth, and Madelyn Sutton. Also surviving are his brother, Dr. Jerry (Julie) Dearth, and nieces and nephew Ashley, Caitlin, Sarah, and Aaron.
The family thanks all who offered prayers, visits, and support during John's journey, and offers special appreciation to the nurses and caregivers from Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home, Jones-Smith Chapel, Upland, with Pastors Marc Crucea and Brian Warner officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
