Leland D. Lamb, 75, of Fairmount, Indiana, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, at Twin City Healthcare Center. He was born March 30, 1951, in Fairmount to the late Francis M. Lamb and Mary A. (Randol) Lamb.
Leland graduated from Fairmount High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, including a deployment to Vietnam. He was employed with the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System for 47 years.
Leland was a true hippie at heart, having attended Woodstock in 1969, and he embraced that free-spirited lifestyle throughout his life. He loved the music of The Beatles, The Doors, and Neil Young. He was an avid collector of many things, especially World War II memorabilia. He enjoyed going to flea markets, antiquing, playing guitar, and had a deep love for animals. He was a member of Wilson Masonic Lodge in Marion and American Legion Post 313 in Fairmount.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Chandra Widener, Christy (Shane Mundy) Williams, and Mary Lamb; grandchildren, Lillian, Ethan, Lilly, Olivia, and Veronica; and longtime partner; Catherine Lamb, good friends, Dan Shrout and Kim Smith. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Diana Carroll and his beloved dogs Bear and Coco.
Arrangements for Leland have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, Indiana. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin immediately following visitation with Pastor Nowell Hardin officiating. Cremation will follow, with burial to take place at a later date in Park Cemetery, Fairmount with
The American Legion Post 313 will conduct a memorial walk-through at 1:00 p.m., followed by Masonic honors presented by Wilson Masonic Lodge, followed by Military honors provided by the US Army and Greentown American Legion
