Leona L. Ruch, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Suite Living Senior Living in Marion, Indiana. Leona was born on July 13, 1932, to the late Martin and Laura Holsten. She graduated from Roll High School in 1950, and then attended Marion Business College, where she met Richard Ruch. They were married on November 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2018. She worked for Oak Hill School Corporation, where she worked as a cook. Leona was a member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church and was very active with Sweetser United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Marion Women's Department Club, as well as very active in the United Methodist Women's Groups and 4H Leadership. Leona was an eager volunteer to organize and serve fundraising banquets. Her passion was cooking and baking for large groups, which led to the opening of the Red Barn Restaurant, where her pies and dinner rolls were locally renowned from 1994 - 2005. She loved for the Ruch family to gather for Sunday and Holiday dinners. When she experienced great tragedies, she took it in stride and turned her sorrows over to the Lord, so she could continue her dedication to serving her loved ones, community, and church. Her getaway loves included camping, travel, vacations with her family, and she and Richard would take their boat to go fishing at many of the lakes of Indiana and Michigan. Leona is survived by her three of her five children, Nancy (Daniel) Gouin, Bushnell, FL, Carol Koch, Lutz, FL, and Russell (Shelly) Ruch, Converse; six grandchildren, Joni, Clint, Tony, Chris, Samuel, and Luke; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Laura; husband, Richard; daughter, Linda Snowaert; son, David Ruch; grandson, Jason Ruch; and three siblings, Glen, Louise, and Herbert Holsten. Arrangements for Leona have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana, where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rob Barton officiating.
