Lewis Allen Jackson, 90, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 26, 2026.
Lewis was born on January 26, 1936, in Swayzee, Indiana, to the late William and Mary (Eastes) Jackson. He graduated from Swayzee High School with the Class of 1954. On September 3, 1954, he married the love of his life, Sandra (Cain) Jackson, and together they shared more than 71 wonderful years of marriage.
Lewis worked for Southworth Ford for 18 years and spent many years employed in the automotive industry. He faithfully attended Herbst United Methodist Church for several years.
Lewis enjoyed gathering with family and friends, collecting antique gas engines and tractors, and attending summer festivals and tractor shows. He especially cherished traveling with his grandsons to Civil War historic sites, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, watching sports, and taking pride in landscaping his yard.
Above all, Lewis treasured the time he spent with his family. His love, guidance, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra (Cain) Jackson; his children, Dennis (Linda) Jackson and Rosemarie (Doyle) Hughes; his sister, Lois Austin; his sisters-in-law, Janie (Bill) Allen and Suzanne Ladd; his grandchildren, Erret (Danielle) Hughes, Jeremy (DeNell) Hughes, Joshua (Denise) Hughes, and Jason Hughes; his great-grandchildren, Bradley Hughes, Braxton Hughes, Tyler Hughes, Isaiah Cavendar, and Jesse Hughes; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kenneth Jackson; his sister, Mary Ann Jackson; and his brothers-in-law, Jan Cain, Jerry Cain, and Dennis Austin.
Arrangements for Lewis have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Laura Marine officiating. Private burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
