Linda B. Camacho, 82, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Jonesboro, surrounded by her family, and went in peace. Linda was a fighter and battled cancer on three different occasions. Linda was born on March 2, 1942, in Converse, to the late Dwight Miller and Mabel (White) Miller-Strayer. She attended Converse High School and then earned her GED from Mississinewa High School in 1968.
At just 16 years old, Linda married the love of her life, Jorge Camacho, on January 10, 1959. Against all odds and what everyone thought, they were happily married for 65 years. Linda spent most of her life being a homemaker, she worked as a receptionist at the Grant County Jail, and was an Avon salesperson.
Linda's prized possession was her family. She was a beacon of light to her family and friends, known for her unwavering love and devotion. She valued family time and cherished moments at the Barbee chain of lakes and Yellow Creek Lake, fishing, traveling to Florida, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Linda was a great cook, with her specialty being Texas sheet cake. Her laughter and warmth filled every room she entered, leaving a lasting impression on all those whose lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jorge Camacho, Jonesboro; sons, Mark (Karina) Camacho, Scottsdale, AZ; and Carl (Elizabeth) Camacho, Pittsboro, IN; daughter, Lisa (Michael) Ashley, Yorktown, IN; brother, Ramon (Arlene) Stair, Carmel, IN; grandchildren, Kasey (Trevor) Oetting, Jake (Sammy) Ashley, Mikala Ashley, Cale Camacho, Annalee Camacho, Nate Camacho, Megan (Phil) Carroll, Alexa Camacho, Grant Camacho, Cassie Ferguson, Tammy (Austin) Ferguson, and Julianna Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Easton, Charlotte, Lilly, Isobel, Della, Gus, Booker, Olive, and Evie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight Miller and Mabel (White) Miller-Strayer; sisters, Genevieve Stair, and Mary Lou (Perry) Moyer.
Arrangements for Linda have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana 46928, where on Friday, June 28, 2024, the family will have friends and family for a visitation from, 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 P.M. officiated by Steve Armes.
Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Linda to Grant County Sheriff's Chaplaincy Program at 214 E. 4th Street, Marion, Indiana 46952.
