Linda Jones

Linda L. Jones, 79, of Matthews, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at IU Health University Hospital. She was born on August 29, 1946, to Charles and Katherine Lynn.

She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1964, and then married Jack Jones on November 26, 1966.

For over 20 years, Linda served as the head cook at Matthews Elementary. She enjoyed cake baking, reading, and watching birds, particularly hummingbirds and cardinals. She also enjoyed sewing and cross-stitching, and cherished the many moments spent with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Jones, Matthews; daughter-in-law, Christina Schlifer-Jones, Midland, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Charmaine Wright and Carl R. Wright, II, Midland, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Jaina and Robert Wright, Midland, Pennsylvania; and sister-in-law, Pamela (John) Van Haneghan, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katherine; husband, Jack; son, Michael A. Jones; and brother, Dan Lynn.

Arrangements for Linda have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A visitation will be held at Epworth Church of Matthews, 105 West 8th Street, Matthews, Indiana 46957, on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Gina Krause officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Matthews Cemetery.
