Linda "Sue" Payne

Linda "Sue" Payne, 81, of Fairmount died Sunday, December 15, 2024 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.

Sue was born in Fairmount, Indiana on January 3, 1943 to Joseph E. and Freda Annabelle (Wilson) Payne. Sue graduated from Fairmount High School in 1960 where she was a cheerleader and a baton twirler. She loved being part of the Fairmount High School Alumni and helping to organize reunions and other events. Sue worked for Farmers Insurance as an administrative assistant for 30 plus years in California and Arizona before moving back to Fairmount to care for her mother. Sue was a spitfire and always a lot of fun to be around. She enjoyed attending car shows in her blue 66 Mustang and working at the Fairmount Museum. She was an animal lover.

Sue is survived her sisters, Kay Geimer, of Marion and Veta Vaughn of Fairmount; nieces, Vicki Snyder, Fairmount, Linda Vaughn, Marion, and Kathy Vaughn, Phoenix, AZ; and great nephew, Dale Snyder.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Freda, and a nephew, Larry Vaughn.

Services for Sue have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. A graveside service for Sue will be held at Park Cemetery on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 2 PM with Pastor Andrew Heald officiating.
