Louella M. Humphreys, 97, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on December 2, 2025. She was born in Chelsea, MI. on July 10, 1928, to the late Ben Arnold and Lillie (Thomas) Arnold.
Louella married, Hanzel G. Humphreys, on April 14, 1943. He preceded her in death. In 1944, they moved to Marion to begin their life together. The two shared a unique passion for renovating homes and managing rental properties. Louella had a remarkable ability to learn quickly, often saying, "Show me once, that's all that's needed," and she would carry out any task with confidence and skill.
A devoted mother and caregiver, Louella spent more than eighty years raising and caring for children. She enjoyed word searches, quilting, and expressing her creativity through many crafts. Above all, she cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and the many generations who followed.
Louella is survived by her children: June (David) McGuinn, Clifford (MaryJane) Humphreys, and Connie Austin; and by her grandchildren: Sheri Hacker, Jeff Justice, Jared Justice, Barb Kersey, Doug McGuinn, Jennifer Kersey-Trusty, Carrie Gschwind, Tabitha McGuinn,Clint Austin and Cassie Dixon. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-laws, Virginia Faye Alban, Lois Bortner and Hilda Shrunk; Two special nephews, Robert Fogle, David Ferree; and Niece Carmen Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Tony Humphreys; siblings, Jack Arnold, Roy Arnold, Stella Dixon, Ruth Rutlidge, J.B. Arnold, Katherine Ferree, Jack Arnold, Margaret Arnold, Betty Collins, Billy Arnold, Patricia Robinson, ; grandson, David McGuinn Jr.; and her mother-in-law, Pauline Osborn.
Louella's legacy of strength, independence, and unconditional love lives on in the many lives she touched. Her family will forever hold her memory close
Arrangements for Louella have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., with a funeral service following at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Bill Sparks. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
