Mary "Louise" (Bruner) Marine, 90, formerly of Elwood, died peacefully Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Colonial Oaks Health Care in Marion.
Louise was born May 14, 1935 to Richard and Chloie (Street) Bruner in Rigdon, Indiana. She attended Antioch School, a one room, one teacher school house for 8 grades. Louise graduated from Fairmount High School in 1953. She married Mark L. Marine on May 27, 1955. They were married for 65 wonderful years before Mark preceded her in death on March 31, 2021. She worked at the former American Security, Marion. She also worked at Sears Roebuck, in Alexandria, LA while Mark was in the service, returning to American Security in 1957 and retiring in 1962. She was a farmer's wife and worked hard along side Mark. She was a former member of Rigdon United Methodist Church and Point Isabel United Methodist Church. Louise was a substitute school bus driver for 32 years for Madison-Grant. She enjoyed working in the yard, tending to her flower beds, gifting homemade flower arrangements, and quilting. Louise enjoyed spending time with her family especially celebrating birthdays and holidays. She loved attending any event to support her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Louise is survived by daughter, Gemia (Scot) Davis, Fairmount; grandchildren Kammi Cloud, Fairmount, Desiree (David) Tolson, Cicero, Cameron (Laura) Marine, Greentown, Kyle Marine, Jonesboro, and Devina (Jordan) Conner, Elwood; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Colton, Landen, Teeghan, Maribelle, and Chloie; sisters, Nancy (Bill) Carpenter, and Verna (Ron) Dailey, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark, son Gregg Marine, infant sister, May Irene Bruner, and sister and brother-in-law Judith and Don Simpson, grandson-in-law Curtis Cloud, nephew, Derek Campbell, and in-laws, Frank & Wilma (Morrison) Marine.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Louise's wishes were to be cremated. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
