Mary Mui-Lan Silva, age 86, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, due to natural causes. Born on July 16, 1940, in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late James Low and Bella Christian. A proud graduate of Radford High School, she dedicated over 40 years of her life to the telecommunications industry as a Hawaiian Tel Operator, where she formed lasting friendships and memories.

Mary was a devoted Catholic and was formerly involved in the community at St. Augustus. She found joy and camaraderie in playing Mahjong with her women's group, meeting regularly to share stories, laughter, and the delightful company of friends. She was also a member of Na Wahine 'O Anahui Kai and Ahumanu Hele 'Eha Womans Sorority. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit.

Mary is survived by her beloved daughter, Dana (Ken) Shaffer; granddaughters, Jenna, Lauren, and Megan Shaffer; sisters, Abigail (Frank) Medrano and Miki (Henry) Maio; brother, James (Pearl) Low; special nephew, Butch; ten great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; and her furry friend, Kai.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bella.

Arrangements for Mary have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. In accordance with Mary's wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date in Hawaii.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Stillwater Hospice for the excellent care they provided to Mary and the family in the last few weeks.
