Surrounded by his loving family, Oren R. Felton, 73, peacefully passed away March 28, 2024 following an extended illness.
He was born November 16, 1950 in Marion, Indiana to Stanley G. Felton and Barbara L. Felton. Oren graduated from Fairmount High School in 1969 and attended Ball State University. In 1971 he married Sharon Shane.
Throughout his career Oren wore many hats from owner/operator of Allen's Village Market in Fairmount, to marketing/account manager at METS, Carmel, Indiana and later as Principal Commercial Real Estate Broker and Cellular Site Acquisition Specialist at Magtech Services, a position which allowed him to indulge his love of history as it required extensive travel throughout the country.
He was a member of the Fairmount Volunteer Fire Department and an alumni of Taylor University's Wandering Wheels, completing a coast to coast ride in the summer of 1967.
Oren eagerly anticipated spring, tilling gardens for friends while tending his own and evenings sitting outside to watch the sunset. He was infinitely proud of his children and grandchildren and took great joy in being part of their lives, finding a house of noise and chaos a true blessing.
Oren is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Sharon Shane Felton, children Shelby (James) Flynn, Nathan A. Felton and a legacy of love that extends to his grandchildren Mackinzie (Cole) Lodge, Drake (Pasha) Yeakle, Cole Felton, Colin Felton, Cameron (Molly) Felton, Caden Felton and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Keith Felton, Lisa Osborne and Kristin (Michael) Lampe, sisters-in-law Connie (Michael) Relfe and Becky (Terry) Ice, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Oren E. Felton and Ruth L. Felton and Arthur and Ella Newell, parents Stanley G. Felton and Barbara L. Felton Allen and brother John R. Allen.
Oren's presence and quick wit will be deeply missed but his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Per his request, the family will observe a private burial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
