Pamala Kay Ailes Skeens

Pamala Kay Ailes Skeens, a beloved mother and friend, passed peacefully on July 23, 2026, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born on December 30, 1946, in Upland, Indiana, Pamala was the cherished daughter of Charles and Mable Jones, who preceded her in death.

Pamala's life was filled with love and dedication. She married her soulmate, Paul Ailes, on August 20, 1965, sharing many joyful years until his passing on March 18, 1990. As a proud graduate of Eastbrook High School, Pamala embraced life with enthusiasm, embarking on a lifelong career as a florist that brought beauty to countless occasions. Her work at the Upland Flower Shop and Taylor University became a testament to her creativity and passion for floral design.

A devoted member of Center Chapel Church, Pamala was actively involved in various church groups, where her warm spirit and kindness fostered a sense of community. She cherished her monthly lunches with her graduating class, relishing the joy of reminiscing about their shared memories. Pamala also had a playful side, enjoying penny gambling and the camaraderie that came with it.

Pamala is survived by her three daughters, Angela Burkett, Amanda O'Brien, and Amber Cox, who carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. She is also survived by her brother, Don (Debbie) Jones, and best friend, Ruth Howard. Her family will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mable, and husband, Paul.

The funeral service for Pamala will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46928. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Paul.
