Patrick "Pat" Dale Coyle, 60, entered the eternal presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after fighting the good fight, finishing the race, and keeping the faith, on July 5, 2026, at his home in rural Matthews, surrounded by his loving family.
Pat was born in Marion, Indiana, on September 13, 1965, the youngest child of Carroll Dawson Coyle and Gladys Jean Blevins, both originally from Bath County, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 39½ years, Laura Rowe Coyle; his two sons, Zachary Ward Coyle and Lucas Keenan Coyle and his wife, Cheyenne, whom Pat loved as his own daughter; and his three precious grandsons, Ryan Jacob Coyle, Logan Keenan Coyle, and Benjamin Lawrence Coyle, all of rural Matthews.
Pat is also survived by his brothers, Carroll T. Coyle and his wife, Cindy, of Upland, and Michael L. Coyle of Matthews; his beloved parents-in-law, Lawrence Rowe and Wilma Ward Rowe of Upland; his brother-in-law, his little brother, Chadwick Rowe and his wife, Tessi, Colorado; his nephews, Jacob, Levi and Elijah Rowe of Colorado, and Tom Coyle of Lafayette; and his niece, Isabella Rowe of Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Tracy Hyatt. Pat will be sadly missed by his beloved Yorkies; Ollie, Henry, Bella, and Penny, his faithful lap buddies.
Pat was a 1984 graduate of Eastbrook High School and a 1986 graduate of Vincennes University. He began his career at Herman Tool and Die in Matthews, later working at Central Manufacturing in Parker City. He retired from the Marion GM plant in October 2018 where he had given 30 years of his life as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. While at GM, he was also a dedicated member of the in-house GM Fire Brigade and served as a First Responder. He was also a 33-year member of the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department (Jefferson Township), retiring in April of this year due to his health. Pat loved his brothers at MVFD and serving his community. After retiring from GM, Pat worked for Gillman Home Center in Gas City and served as the store's Assistant Manager, Stihl Department Manager and mechanic. He quickly became one of the most sought-after Stihl Gold MasterWrench mechanics in the area. He was also inducted into the Stihl Ambassador program in 2021, through Bryan Epuipment. His illness forced his retirement from Gillman's earlier this year.
Pat may have appeared to be a quiet man, but his quick wit and sense of humor was a mix of goofy and clever. Sometimes it was obvious, and sometimes it went just enough over your head enough that it made you have to stop and think. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout his life, but the one that never waned was his love of motorcycles and being outdoors. He loved dirt biking, riding enduros and dual sports, and taking touring trips on his Harley-Davidson Road King with Laura.
Pat had a mathematical and analytical mind, and was always looking at ways to improve whatever he was working on. He was a ham radio operator and had been PADI certified as a Master SCUBA Diver, including Rescue Diver. He also played the banjo and was self-taught. He enjoyed trap and skeet shooting, as well as reloading and gun-smithing, mechanic work and woodworking. He loved camping with his family, hiking in the mountains, and exploring the Outer Banks and east coast. He enjoyed helping Laura with her genealogy research, locating, cleaning and repairing ancestor headstones in Virginia and Kentucky. Just hanging out with family at campfires on the weekends, cookouts, playing games, just playing with his grandsons, and gathering with friends were among his favorite things.
It is hard to sum up a man's life in just a few paragraphs, but what should be remembered most about Pat is that he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Yeshua. He is now in His presence and he is healed, no longer in pain, and of that we have no doubt. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord - 2 Cor 5:8.
