Payton Mason, a vibrant 23-year-old, left this world unexpectedly on February 8, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on January 15, 2003, in Muncie, Indiana, Payton was the beloved son of the late Heidi Mason and a cherished grandson of Joyce Oyler.

Payton's life was a tapestry of warmth and connection. He graduated from Mississinewa High School, where he cultivated friendships that would last a lifetime. His passion for people shone brightly in his role as a Crew Trainer at McDonald's, where he was recently promoted and enjoyed every moment spent with his coworkers. The joy of serving others and fostering new relationships brought him great happiness.

In addition to his work at McDonald's, Payton shared his vibrant spirit at Jackie's restaurant, embodying the essence of community and camaraderie. He had an adventurous heart, often seen riding around town on his grandmother's golf cart, creating beautiful memories along the way. Payton found joy in the simplest of pleasures, whether it was indulging in video games, swimming, or fishing. His infectious laughter and love for life brought light to all who knew him.

Payton will be deeply missed by his family and friends, whose lives he touched with his genuine kindness and cheerful disposition. He leaves behind his loving grandmother, Joyce Oyler, and his brother, Isaac Mason, who will cherish the memories they shared, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Heidi; grandfathers, Berle Mason and Mike Oyler; and great-grandparents, Ruth and Ted Cook.
