Rebecca L. Gossett, 73, of Fairmount, died Thursday, January 23, 2025 at IU Ball Memorial.
Rebecca Lou Gossett went by many names, Becky, Aunt Becky, mom, momma b, mamaw, mother, mommy and ol mamaw. She was born in Lima, Ohio as the youngest child born to Robert B. and Maxine ( Morrish) Gossett. Becky moved from Ohio and lived all over the US with her Mom, Dad and siblings Gary and Connie. She graduated from Laguna Beach high School in 1970. She worked at her parents A and W Rootbeer stand, McDonald's and Pizza Hut where she met a lifelong friend Ralphel Ponce in California. She didn't get married till her 30's and her boys came later in that decade. She moved again with her parents to Colorado, then to her final resting place of Fairmount Indiana. Fairmount was her parents birthplace, she always told stories of getting ice cream from the DQ, riding ponies with her cousins and always loving her grandma's house on 1st street. She raised 3 boys here, and countless kids that came along with them. There was a lot more than the three of us that called her mom. She never met a stranger, she could walk up to anyone and become friends. Grandma always said she couldn't whisper either, and was the loudest kid in class. This was very true, whether it was a private conversation or sporting event she could be heard, whether you wanted it or not. She was our biggest fan when playing sports, never missed a game, even coached a few times. When she became a grandmother, she became their biggest fan. She loved watching us all grow up and being there when when needed. She loved to read, doing diamond art and her dogs, Pewee and Drew. Becky loved life and the family she built. She will be truly missed, never forgotten and always loved.
Becky is survived by her three sons, Robert (Sarah) Gossett, Marion, Randy (Staci) Gossett, and Ryan (Kayla) Gossett, both of Fairmount; 8 grandchildren; sister, Connie (Bob) Boyd, Pueblo, CO; and several cousins.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Maxine, brother, Gary Gossett and a sister, Sue Ann Gossett.
