It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard A. "Rick" Haynes, who left us unexpectedly on January 19, 2026. Born on August 30, 1968, to the late Carol Music in Dallas, Texas, Rick's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a passion for the simple joys.

A graduate of Eastbrook High School, class of 1986, Rick dedicated over a decade of his life to the Dollar General Distribution Center as an inventory specialist. His commitment to service also led him to join the Army at the age of 21, where he proudly served for four years.

In a twist of fate, Rick's love story began on a blind date with Lisa Bailey in Flint, Michigan. Their instant connection blossomed into a beautiful partnership, as they became engaged just six months later and celebrated their wedding on October 26, 1996. Together, they built a life over 30 joyous years, rich with shared experiences and cherished memories.

Rick was a man who thrived in the great outdoors; he found happiness in fishing, mushroom hunting, and capturing the beauty of nature through photography, particularly of deer, eagles, and breathtaking sunsets. He loved exploring the countryside on long drives and recently took up gardening, discovering the joy of nurturing life. His creativity also blossomed in his new interest in making natural remedies and holistic medications.

A regular at Goodwill, Rick's boundless curiosity and knack for finding treasures made it his favorite spot. He wore his heart on his sleeve as an avid fan of Notre Dame football and IU basketball, celebrating each victory, and he would have especially relished in IU's recent National Championship win.

Above all, Rick cherished his role as "Papa," taking his grandkids on delightful rides through town on his mower, ensuring laughter and love followed in their wake. Known for his straightforward approach and infectious sense of humor, he had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and lifting their spirits.

Rick is survived by his wife, Lisa, Matthews; son, Jeremy Bailey, Fort Walton, Florida; daughters, Halie (Grant Brown) Haynes, Matthews, and Hanna Haynes, Muncie; grandchildren, Damien and Paisley Bailey, and Finn, Ivey, and Juniper Brown; brothers, Carl "Coob" (Linda) Haynes, Fairmount, and Ronald (Valorie) Haynes, Stow, Ohio; dog, Harper; and many friends, including his 7th Infantry Division Army buddies, the Wolfhounds.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol; brother, David Haynes; two infant twin sisters; and dog, Henri.
