Richard Leroy "Dick" Elliott, 73, of Upland died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at University Nursing Center, after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 19, 1950, to the late Robert and Ruby Elliott, and lived much of his life in Hartford City before becoming a permanent resident of Upland. Richard enjoyed fishing, yard work, keeping up with his television shows, and lending a hand to those who needed it. He was also known as "Tiny Man" on the CB radio, which he was a frequent user of.
He worked numerous years at Pierce Governor, as well as odd jobs such as lawn care, tinkering on anything with a motor, and construction.
Richard is survived by his longtime partner, Betty May Gibson; her children, Daniel (partner Debra) Gibson of Hartford City, Dawn Monahan of Montpelier; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rant Elliott of Hartford City and Randall Elliott of California; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruby; brothers Robert and Rex; sister Ratha; Betty's sons, David and Douglas; along with multiple nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his humor, blessed with the ability to make anyone laugh.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Services will be announced at a later date.
