Roberta Hoheimer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 20, 2024 at the age of 89. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was born on December 28, 1934 to the late Robert and Bonnie (Vetor) Gaither in Fairmount, Indiana. Roberta graduated from Fairmount High School in 1952. Shortly after, on June 9, 1952, she married the love of her life, Gordon Hoheimer. Together, they built a life filled with love, joy, and cherished memories.
Roberta dedicated her life to being a homemaker, raising their four children with unwavering love and care. She attended Nelson Street Wesleyan Church in Marion, Indiana, until she physically was not able to attend. Roberta's faith was an integral part of her life. Her commitment to her church community was a testament to her strong spirit and generous heart.
Roberta had a deep passion for local history and archaeology. She was an enthusiastic member of The Upper White River Archaeological Society, where she indulged her love for hunting arrowheads. Her keen interest in history was further celebrated when she was crowned Queen of James Dean Days, an honor she cherished deeply.
A true "Deaner," Roberta had a love for all things related to James Dean. Her enthusiasm for his legacy brought her close to fans and friends from around the world, creating a community that spanned continents.
Roberta was also an avid roller skater, a hobby that brought her immense joy and countless friendships. She was also a member of the American Legion in Madeira Beach, Florida.
In her later years, Roberta found happiness in the simple pleasure of sitting on her porch with her husband watching as people went by.
Roberta is survived by her loving husband, Gordon Hoheimer; her four children, Cindy (Mike) Spencer of Summitville, IN, Gordon (Sharon) Hoheimer of Fairmount, IN, Julie (Rich) Trimble of Elwood, IN, and Bonnie (Brian) Flynn of Marion, IN; her siblings, Chuck (Becky) Gaither of Missouri, Kay (Larry) Stookey of Fairmount, Ann Stephens of Florida; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Roberta is preceded in her passing by her parents; brother, Paul Mervin Gaither; sister, Sue Wilson; great grandchild Austin Davidson.
Arrangements for Roberta have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana 46928. A visitation will be held at the Fairmount Chapel on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.. A service will follow the visitation with Pastor Ron Meyers officiating. A burial at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana will follow.
