Roma Nell Lewis passed on to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. She was at her home in Warsaw, IN surrounded by all of her children. Roma was born to James Albert Baird and Nellie Irene (Scott) Baird-Hoss on June 24, 1934 in Marion, Indiana. On June 29, 1952, she married James William (Bill) Lewis at the First Church of God on Boots Street in Marion and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before he passed just a few days later in 2018. She was also preceded in death by both of her parents. Roma graduated from Sweetser High School in 1952. She went on to earn her associates degree in Nursing. After taking her Nursing State Boards she learned that she had been the top scorer in the entire state. She then went on to work for Marion General Hospital on the surgical floor and then the Davis Clinic. The majority of her years as an LPN, however, were in working for Drs. Herbert C. Khalouf, William Shuck and Edward Keppler at Marion Surgeons, Inc. with her dear friends, Helen Houseman and Vonda Hanson She retired from there in 1990. Roma loved family and people and you could feel this the moment she smiled at you or gave you a big hug. She also enjoyed attending theatrical plays and musicals and concerts, playing cards, especially euchre and reading. Otherwise, she liked to relax at Hill Lake Resort where she and Bill had maintained a vacation home for over sixty years. She was a member of the First Church of God and also served on the Elder Board. Roma is survived by her three children: Kevin James Lewis, Warsaw and Stephen Michael Lewis, Claypool and her daughter Tina Denise Lewis, Marion. Other surviving family members are her brother, Jerry (Jackie) Hoss, Marion; sister, Pennie Ables, Coldwater, Ohio; sister-in-law, Shirley Lostutter, Marion; brother-in-law, Paul (Anita) Lewis; grandchildren, Nathan Lewis, Redlands, California; Blake Lewis, Walla Walla, Washington; Tory (Kalon) Shearer, Winona Lake; and Mikila Brown, Fort Wayne; great grandchildren, Zoey Shearer, Brookely Shearer, Rylan James Shearer, Raely Mae Shearer, Bailey Brown and Nolan Cook; her very special lake family, James and Jonna, Connor, Hanna, and Kyle Young, not to mention, many loving and devoted nieces and nephews and two cherished dogs, Napoleon and Bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie; husband, Bill; sisters, Helen (Herbert) Smith; Maxine (Robert) Eastes; brother, Keith (Debbie) Hoss; brother Bill Hoss; sister-in-law, Patricia (Robert) Stanley; brother-in-laws, Fred Lostutter and Ed Ables. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the First Church of God, 450 West 50th Street, with Pastors Jonathan Secrest and Jerry Gayle Hoss officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington County, Indiana. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God. Arrangements have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana.
