Ruthanna "Tootie" Titus, a lifelong resident of Fairmount, joined her heavenly Father at 101 years of age with family by her side on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Yorktown Mannor.
Tootie was born in Marion, Indiana of October 8, 1924, daughter of the late Hershal Logan and Iva Mae (Smith) Sutton. She was given her nickname by her brothers when she was a child. Tootie graduated from Fairmount High School in 1942 being crowned the Relay Queen that same year. As a young adult she worked the soda fountain at Rexall Drugs in Fairmount . She would make milkshakes for James Dean and his Uncle Mark. Jimmie would get a malt. She married William Vaughn "Arkie" Titus in April of 1946. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1968. Tootie was a busy homemaker raising six children. She was the longest living member of the Fairmount Methodist Church where she was a children's Sunday School teacher and was actively involved in the United Methodist Woman. She was also an 80 year member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. Many folks would recognize Tootie from her many years of ballgames at Madison-Grant and Play Acres Park where she most likely watched more baseball and softball games than any other Fairmount resident. She was the Grand Marshall of the James Dean Parade in 2021.
Loving mother and grandmother Tootie is survived by six children ; Lee Anne Craw, Fairmount, Tim (Sandy Arrasmith) Titus, Wilmington, OH, Ted (Janet) Titus, Monticello, Terri Cropper, Greenwood, Bill (Dianne) Titus, Fishers, Jack (Rhonda) Titus, Pendleton; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Tootie was preceded in death by her husband Arkie, siblings, Charles Sutton, Vera Parish Schleeter, Yvonne Schleeter and William Sutton; and sons-in-law, Charlie Cropper and Robert Craw; and daughter in law, Janice Kidd.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 2-5 PM at the funeral home. Celebration of life service will be on Monday February 9, 2026 at 11 AM with her son Jack and Pastor Glenn Davis officiating.
