Sandra "Sandy" L. Chandler 83, beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2024, at Colonial Oaks Health Care where she had been a resident since 2021.
Sandy was born on March 2, 1941 in Muncie, Indiana, daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Treon) Duncan. She married Charles T. "Chief" Chandler Sr. on June 20, 1981. They shared a wonderful life together before he preceded her in death on November 6, 2015. Sandy had worked in the manufacturing industry at SCM, RCA, and Fisher Body before making a career and retiring from Madison-Grant School District where she had worked at Park School Cafeteria for 15 years and was also a school bus aid. She touched the lives of many students and colleagues. Sandy faithfully served as a member of Howard Chapel Church for many years. She was all about family and supported them in every way, especially as a prayer warrior for her family and friends alike. She loved caring for the grand babies and attending every event they participated in. She enjoyed working the polls during elections and had been a caregiver for several relatives and friends. Sandy also enjoyed going to One-stop for her cappuccino, and going to the library to get books with Linda's help for her great grandchildren. She was known by, Grandma, Grams, Mom, Sister, and Friend.

The staff at Colonial Oak were wonderful to mom. Thank you for treating our loved one as one of yours. The love that you all have shown has not gone unnoticed.
A compassionate and nurturing soul Sandy will be missed by her son, Frances "Junior" (Kim) Nieman, Chris (Cindy) Nieman; daughter Cathy Lee, Arthur (Tracy) Nieman; grandchildren, Sunshine (Elise) Metz, Josh (Casey) Nieman, Thomas Nieman, Shawn Nieman, Faith Nieman, Caleb Nieman, Jacob Nieman, Austin (Jamie) Lee; great grands, Myles, Marlie, Molly, Maggie, Marijane Nieman, Millie Lee, Nevaeh Nieman, Austin Black, Rylan Nieman, Paislee Nieman, Dash Nieman; brother, Bill (Kay) Duncan, Steve Duncan and Sister Emma Knopp.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, Charles Chandler, Arthur & Dorothy Duncan, grandparents, John & Carrie Treon, brothers, Lewis Suttles, and Bob Duncan, great grand- daughter, Maggie Nieman .
Services to celebrate and honor Sandy's life will be at Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana on Friday, August 2, 2024. Visitation will be from 11 AM-1 PM with the funeral service beginning at 1 PM with Pastor David Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana
Memorial contributions may be made to Park School Cafeteria Lunch Program in care of the funeral home.
