Sara Jane "Sally" Mack

Sara Jane "Sally" Mack, 90, of Franklin, Indiana, peacefully departed this life on April 22, 2026, at Silver Oaks Health Care in Columbus, Indiana. Born on July 30, 1935, in Homer City, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of the late W. Clark and Priscilla George.

Sally was a devoted wife to Ivan Lee Mack, whom she married on July 1, 1956, and who preceded her in death on June 16, 2017. Together, they built a loving family and home that reflected Sally's passion for nurturing and educating those around her. A proud graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economic Education, she went on to serve as a home demonstration agent at the Purdue Extension Service in Angola, Indiana. Sally also dedicated her time as a long-time substitute teacher at Madison-Grant Schools, where her love for learning inspired many students.

In her community, Sally was an active and cherished member of Fairmount United Methodist Church. She played various roles over the years, including trustee secretary, and she was a key figure in organizing the church Bazaar and Smorgasbord, generously sharing her talents and time. Her involvement in the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class allowed her to connect deeply with her fellow congregants and foster a spirit of fellowship.

Sally was an exceptional seamstress, known for crafting beautiful garments for her children and draperies that adorned her family home. Her creations were a reflection of her love and attention to detail, bringing warmth and joy into the lives of those she cared for.

She is survived by her children, Priscilla Nicol, Elizabeth Bean, and Thomas Mack. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Peter Bender, Rebecca Bowen, David Bean, Sara Newton, Paul Bean, Erin Mack, Katie Galle, and Allison Mack; and a loving great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, William George, and her husband.

Funeral services will be held at Fairmount United Methodist Church, where friends and family will gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Glen Davis and Dawn Cuthbert officiating. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairmount United Methodist Church.
