It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan M. Jackson Conner, a beloved companion, mother, sister, and grandmother, who left us on May 25, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on July 14, 1962, in North Babylon, Long Island, New York, Susan made her mark on this world and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Susan was part of the Eastbrook school community and attended Matthews First Community Church, where she found strength and connection with those around her. She was with the love of her life, companion, Mike Peden, for 27 years.
Throughout her life, Susan was a strong-willed and fiery spirit, known for her loving nature and determination. She spent her career managing at Hughes Pic & Pack, but her true joy came from her family and the simple pleasures of life. Susan enjoyed reading, tackling jigsaw puzzles, and feeding the birds and squirrels that visited her yard. Whether it was playing dice, Yahtzee, or just cherishing time with her grandchildren-Ryker, Elaina, Quiana, Aidan, Alexis, Mia, Aubrey, and Graycen-those moments brought her immense joy.
Susan is survived by her companion, Mike Peden, Hartford City; children, Brenton (Amber) Jackson, Hartford City; Carrie (Andrew Cox) Conner, Hartford City; Kristina (Adrian) Valentine, Hartford City; and Lacey (Elijah) Shumaker, Eaton; grandchildren, Ryker and Elaina Valentine; Quiana Gonzales; Aidan Bye; Alexis Huffman; Mia Cox; and Aubrey and Graycen Shumaker; siblings, Kenneth (Sharon) Jackson; Joe (Rhonda) Jackson; Bob (Lou Ann) Jackson; Sharon (Jeff Condon) Cole; and Cindy (Kenny) Shrontz; and several nieces and nephews, who will all remember her fierce love and unwavering spirit.
The family would like to add a special thank you to, IU Methodist Transplant Team, for the care they provided to Susan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lydia (Warren) Jackson.
Arrangements for Susan were entrusted to the Jones-Smith Chapel of Armes-Hunt Life Celebration Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 259 North Main Street, Upland, Indiana 46989.
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at First Community Church of Matthews, 131 W. 7th Street, Matthews, Indiana 46957, there will be a visitation held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 P.M. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Susan's life-sharing stories, laughter, and tears. We hope everyone who knew Susan can join us in honoring her legacy of love and warmth.
In her memory, let us cherish the moments we had with her and remember the light she brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Susan. You will be missed more than words can express.
