Timothy Rice

Our cherished Dad and Papaw, Timothy H. Rice, age 71, passed away on August 31, 2025. His

love, guidance, and steady presence shaped our lives, and we will forever be grateful for the

gift of calling him "Dad and Papaw."

Born on September 10, 1953 to Frank and Janice (Brown) Rice, Tim grew up in the country

where he could go on adventures, take part in playful escapades, and discover a love of

animals, especially horses. This passion defined his life and brought him great joy. He spent

countless hours in the saddle, refining his skills and building an unbreakable bond with his

equine partners.

Throughout his riding career, Tim was a familiar and cherished face at horse shows across the

region. He was known for his sportsmanship, determination, encouraging spirit, and bravery

while riding bucking broncos which earned him the nickname "Bucky". Afterward, Tim enjoyed

a long career with Red Gold as a professional driver for over 30 years, where he was known for

his hard work, kindness, and sense of humor.

Family was always at the center of his life. He married Rita Wales on November 10, 1994, and

together they built a blended family full of love and laughter. He showed up for every

milestone, every struggle, and every ordinary day in between. His legacy lives on in the values

he instilled-compassion, honesty, and a deep love for family.

He is survived by children, Gerry (Katey) Rice, Adreiann (Phil) Childress, Misty (Mike)

Humphries; grandchildren, Megan (Xabian) Shelton, Jessiann (Trevor) Cox, Alivia (Evan)

Harrison, Andrew (Morgan) Childress, Nicholas Childress, Izabella Childress, Ethan Humphries,

Lucas Humphries, and Gavin Humphries; four precious great-grandchildren; siblings, Terry

(Cindy) Rice, Sherry Rice, and Frank;Tootie; (Betty) Rice; sisters-in-law, Valerie Hunt, Jeanette

Smith, Kathy (Al) Bright, Judy (Bob) Buckler; best friends (who were more like brothers) Byron

Hunter and Ted Ward; countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who loved him

dearly.

Tim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Rice; parents, Frank and Janice Rice;

stepmother, Paulene Rice; sister, Tammy Mills; sister and brother-in-law, Lamerle & Jack

Alexander, sister-in-law, Juanell Perry; and brother-in-law, Dale Hunt.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt College Park Chapel, 4601 South Western

Avenue, Marion, Indiana 46953.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 with Evangelist Taylor Ladd presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to

Marion Grant County Humane Society.

Above all else, Tim will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend.

His presence was a blessing, and his absence leaves a hole that can never be filled.
